Berkeley DB uses versioned symbols in older versions, so AC_CHECK_LIB
can't be used; instead use AC_LINK_IFELSE.  Also, comment out C99
fixed-width integer type tests which are (a) not used, and (b) only in
the latest version of autoconf.
